Planning White Paper: we write to the county’s MPs

Our glorious Essex countryside is under threat (pic Ken McDonald)

The government’s Planning for the Future White Paper is a potential nightmare for our countryside (see here).
CPRE Essex has already made a substantial contribution to the government consultation on the White Paper (see here) and now has written to each of the county’s MPs detailing serious concerns ranging from loss of countryside to threat to local democracy.
David Knight, CPRE Essex chairman, concludes in the letter: “The huge uplift in housebuilding in Essex that would result from the adoption of the White Paper proposals would place impossible demands on the county’s infrastructure, endanger the countryside and coastal fringes and encroach on valuable farmland.
“The adoption of the White Paper would not be in the best interest of the Essex communities that you serve and will damage local democracy.”
