You’ve got to hand it to them! Eight stalwarts of CPRE Essex were honoured with Volunteer Awards

It was standing room only at Cressing Temple Barns on Saturday (October 5) for the Annual General Meeting of CPRE Essex.
Members and supporters didn’t need asking twice to head for this fantastic venue near Braintree as the county branch demonstrated how much it has developed over the past year.
Once the formalities were over (and over commendably quickly!) everyone was treated to a fascinating talk by Simon Amstutz on the Dedham Vale and Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONBs… and then followed a fantastic spread courtesy of Wilkins tea room.
Essex is, of course, under huge and growing pressure of development, but the AGM offered the opportunity to relax awhile and celebrate some of those who have done so much for the protection of this beloved county.
And it was an opportunity taken with both hands as some very special people were given CPRE Length of Service Awards and volunteer medals.
Liz Lucas, Jill Hinds, Tricia Moxey and Petra Ward were all present and correct to receive their tributes from the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Vincent Thompson.
Fellow recipients Ed Dixon, Keith Francis, Bertram Rope and Rosemary Turner unfortunately couldn’t make the event but will get their accolades in due course.
There will be a more extensive report on the AGM shortly, but in the meantime just let’s raise a glass to those who have done so much for CPRE Essex. We couldn’t do what we do without them!
