… and plans for another solar farm

The solar-farm proposals keep coming thick and fast!
Consultation on a site of some 242 acres of farmland east of West Hanningfield ended last month and a planning application to Chelmsford City Council is expected soon.
The Sandon Brook project is being developed by Low Carbon, which is reported to have stated that a full Environmental Impact Assessment is not needed as, at 49.9 megawatts, it is below the required maximum generating capacity.
As for supplying the energy produced from the planned solar farm, Low Carbon says: “The electricity produced on this solar farm will be exported to the distribution network operator (UK Power Networks) via underground cables.
“The point of connection that we have been given by UK Power Networks is via an existing overhead tower to the east of West Hanningfield.”
