Be of good cheer in Ongar! Inspector dismisses developer’s appeal against housing refusal

We’re always happy to report good news here at CPRE Essex – and so it is a joy to bring news from Ongar, where a planning inspector has dismissed an appeal against refusal of a development in this delightful village.
Tricia Moxey, CPRE Essex vice-president, was involved in proceedings and takes up the tale: “I am pleased to report that the planning inspector dismissed the appeal against refusal for the development of an approved site for some 107 new homes in Greensted Road.
“She found that the developer had not complied with certain policies in the adopted Ongar Neighbourhood Plan, especially with regard to the housing mix and parking standards. She stressed the importance of evidence to back up objections.
“Plans for 27 homes at the second site in Ongar, off Fyfield Road, have been submitted and, although there have been useful discussions about this, the stated housing mix is not right and there are issues with the inadequate level of parking spaces provided.”
