Essex minerals plan: your chance to join consultation

Fifty-two new sites are under consideration

Would you like to give your views on the next Essex minerals plan?
The county council is consulting on the Minerals Local Plan (MLP) Review, which includes 52 new sites for consideration.
They are scattered across the county and CPRE Essex will be submitting a response.
There are several aspects to consider. For example, Tricia Moxey, CPRE Essex vice-president, tells us: “When the M11 was being constructed, some suitable material was excavated from small areas and today the pits are now attractive water bodies.
“Of course, large areas of the Lea Valley provided gravel and these flooded areas are also good havens for wildlife and aquatic recreational activities.”
It would be helpful for people in the county to make their own comments and copy in CPRE Essex so we can put together a countywide response.
The consultation is in two parts: the county council is inviting comments on both the draft Replacement MLP document and the interim results of “the site assessment work that will guide the allocation of new mineral sites to support development in Essex to 2040”.
The consultation closes on Tuesday, March 19.
