Many of the good folk of Essex will be returning to work today (Monday, January 8), so what better time to announce some wonderful and uplifting news?
It was announced in this year’s New Year Honours List that ardent Essex conservationist Robert Erith TD DL had been awarded a British Empire Medal for services to the environment in Dedham Vale, which of course straddles Essex and Suffolk.
Robert has been a loyal servant to CPRE Essex and it was only in 2022 that, after 25 years’ service in the role, he stood down as a CPRE Essex vice-president, rounding off his time with a speech on conservation at that year’s AGM.
Robert is also president of the Dedham Vale Society and a committee member of the Colne-Stour Countryside Association.
