Southend has won £19.9 million from the government’s Levelling Up Fund.
The award follows a successful bid by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and the money will be targeted at Leigh Port, the Cliffs Pavilion and safety measures on the wider seafront and in the town centre.
The port work will entail the building of quay-wall frontage, access improvements, resurfacing of the wharf and dredging.
