Our Lovely Essex: your photos show how much we have to celebrate

Shortly before Easter, we asked for photographs of Essex that showed our wonderful county in all its glory. The brief for Our Lovely Essex was wide-ranging (see here) and included anything from images of places we’re looking forward to seeing again to shots taken on our daily exercise walks.
We have had an encouraging response, so thanks to all of you who have got back to us with pictures. We share the first of them here and there are more to follow. Hopefully, more of you will be encouraged to send in your own contributions.
Gordon Ridgewell has sent us three shots: those of Finchingfield and Bridge End Garden at Saffron Walden celebrate two of our most popular tourist traps, while the third, which Gordon entitled Boss at Work, captures a traditional Essex scene that will stir the hearts of many.

Steve Holden, meanwhile, has sent us an image from his morning walk at Moulsham, Chelmsford. Nice daffs!

Finally, there’s an atmospheric shot from Richard Haynes. It shows Turpin’s Trail connecting Thaxted with the Sampfords, a delightful walk for now but one likely to change drastically.
“This will shortly become part of an industrial landscape, Uttlesford District Council having recently granted planning permission, contrary to all government guidance, for a 120-acre solar energy centre on the ‘best and most versatile’ surrounding farmland,” said Richard.

It’s a stark reminder that, although we’re highlighting positive aspects of the Essex countryside, we must always stay vigilant. As if CPRE Essex would do anything else!
Take care and stay safe…
