Plans for thousands of new homes and distributor road to be considered
Chelmsford just keeps on growing...
The extraordinary expansion of Chelmsford looks likely to continue apace as the city council’s planning committee considers proposals for 2,750 new homes and the building of a supporting road.
The Northern Radial Distributor Road is being put forward as part of the housing scheme, which is itself a substantial element of the Chelmsford Garden Community development, intended to grow to a total of 6,250 properties.
If approved, the distributor road will run through the northern part of the garden community and link to both the Chelmsford North East Bypass and Essex Regiment Way.
It is intended that the garden community will deliver at least 3,000 homes up to 2036, the period covered by the Chelmsford Local Plan, and a further 3,250 properties after that.
