Wings over Littlebury

It’s the end of the week, so that means it’s time to share some images from photographic wizard Gordon Ridgewell!
The unifying theme is wings – two of them on a kestrel and two on a Spitfire. As ever, Gordon tells us the story behind both shots. Firstly, the kestrel, a delightful falcon with which most of us will be familiar…
“I went to the end of the garden the other evening to see a freight train passing and, while I was waiting, this kestrel gave me the eye. It was resting on the wires above the track – lifting my camera very slowly, I captured this lovely shot before it flew off.”
And the Spitfire?
“I captured this on the Sunday evening of the Last Night of the Heritage Proms celebration with Russell Watson and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at Audley End. The Spitfire had come from Biggin Hill for a five-minute fly-by.
“What with red kites, Red Arrows and now Spitfires, I don’t even have to leave the garden!”
