You can take part in consultation on garden-town neighbourhood

Times are changing in this patch of countryside (pic www.lattonpriory.co.uk)

It’s been a while since we’ve alerted you to a good consultation – and here’s a bit of an old favourite…Latton Priory is one of four new neighbourhoods planned for the proposed Harlow and Gilston Garden Town, south of Harlow in the parish of North Weald Bassett.
The garden town scheme was approved by Harlow, Epping and East Herts councils in December 2018. It is expected to eventually grow to 23,000 homes, with Latton Priory providing at least 1,050 of them.
Although on the edge of Harlow, the site lies within the boundaries of Epping Forest District Council, which will make the final decision on planning.
This is not the first consultation, but now “residents and the local community are invited to help shape the design” of the neighbourhood by taking part in an online survey.
As well as the minimum of 1,050 new homes, two schools, a local centre and travel infrastructure are planned, EFDC says comments from the survey will “inform a Strategic Design Code for the proposed new community”.
The local authority adds: “The Latton Priory Strategic Masterplan Framework was endorsed by Epping Forest District Council earlier this year and the completed Design Code will sit alongside this to be referenced by developers when seeking planning permission at Latton Priory in the future.
“This design code sets out standards for the masterplan area, with an emphasis on creating a high-quality public realm, to promote a vibrant and resilient new neighbourhood in line with the Garden Town Vision.”
The consultation runs until midday Monday, December 11. Click here for further information and to read the draft Strategic Design Code and take the survey, a paper copy of which can be requested by emailing haveyoursay@hggt.co.uk or phoning 01992 564000.
